Murals in Utrecht
Utrecht is bursting with murals that turn the city into a living art gallery. Across neighborhoods, you’ll find large-scale masterpieces, community-driven projects, and playful illusions that bring the streets to life. The towering Flute Player mural in Overvecht – standing 100 feet tall – pays tribute to Utrecht artist Abraham Bloemaert. On Croeselaan, artist Munir de Vries created a 2,000-square-foot mural shaped by the stories and ideas of local residents. Many of these murals are hand-painted by collectives like De Strakke Hand or renowned artists such as JanIsDeMan, Jos Peeters, and De Verfdokter. From historical homages to bold urban statements, each mural adds a new layer to the city’s identity – one that’s always evolving and deeply rooted in local pride.
